Online M.B.A. Admission Requirements
Our Master of Business Administration program accepts applications from students who have earned at least a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution. To apply to our online M.B.A. program, you’ll need the following:
- A completed application
- 2.7 minimum GPA: Applicants with a GPA below the minimum may be admitted at the department’s discretion. A GPA letter will be required.
- Official transcript(s) from a regionally accredited institution.
- Résumé: A detailed work history that highlights any experience that may be relevant to this program.
- Personal statement: Detail your personal and professional goals and explain how this program will help you bring them to life.
- Work experience is recommended, but not required.

Transfer Previous College Credit
Transfer credit is awarded for courses taken at a regionally accredited college that are equivalent to those taught at Utica University and for which you received a grade of “B” or better. Note that we require official transcripts from all colleges you’ve attended, as well as a transcript showing degree awarded.
Shortly after you receive your letter of admission, you will receive an evaluation of your transfer credits from the Registrar’s Office. If you want to review possible credit eligibility ahead of time, use TES® (Transfer Evaluation System).

If English is not your first language, you will need to submit your test scores from either the TOEFL or IELTS. Utica requires a TOEFL score of 550 written, 213 computer-based, or 79 internet-based. Utica requires an IELTS score of 6.0.
International students may also provide a Duolingo English Test (DET) score of 100.

Richard G. Fenner, Ph.D.
Associate Professor, Economics
Richard G. Fenner, Ph.D., M.B.A., has been a Utica faculty member since 1989 and is currently Dean of the School of Business and Justice Studies at Utica. In addition, he also serves as the director of Utica’s Mohawk Valley Center for Economic Education.
Fenner’s research interests include the areas of education finance, pedagogy, creating teaching materials, and teaching economics. His most recent work includes a study for the U.S. Department of Education on the impact of state aid on local school districts. He also co-authored a book titled, “Teaching Financial Crises,” and developed curriculum for Aplia.
