Generations of Pioneers to Reunite for Homecoming 2025

Homecoming and Alumni Family Weekend runs September 26 - 28, 2025
Utica University will welcome home generations of Pioneers this September as the 2025 Homecoming & Alumni and Family Weekend kicks off for multiple days of experiences, entertainment, memories, and fun.
Homecoming provides Pioneers of all ages a wonderful opportunity to catch up with longtime friends and spend some quality time on campus, with great company and a variety of events.
On Thursday, September 25, things unofficially kick off with the annual Scholarship Luncheon at 12:30 p.m. in the Harold T. Clark Athletic Center where invitees help to honor Utica’s most loyal donors and student recipients. Then, at 7 p.m. that evening, The F. Eugene Romano Executive Lecture Series will welcome Tony Nassar, Director of Dairy Procurement at Chobani. The F. Eugene Romano Executive Lecture Series invites top business leaders to share their experiences in the world of management and leadership with the Utica University community.
There will be plenty of opportunities to take in a sporting event on Friday, be it Women’s Tennis vs Hartwick College on the tennis courts at 4 p.m. or the Men’s Lacrosse alumni game at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium at 6 p.m. Invitees will celebrate the newest members of the Oneida Square Society and the Pioneer Athletic Hall of Fame at an induction ceremony at 6 p.m. in the Harold T. Clark Jr. Athletic Center.
Take in a night at the theater with the Utica University Performance Showcase in Strebel Auditorium. At 7 p.m. Friday night, Utica University students will sing, dance, and perform for their fellow students, alumni, and families coming home to Utica.
Cap off Friday evening with a pint in the Pioneer Pub from 8 – 11 p.m. as alumni enjoy light refreshments and a special performance by recording artist Ryan Quinn, featured on Season 10 of NBC’s “The Voice.” The North East Tap Co.’s 1969 Vintage Tap Truck will be on site selling alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Each registrant will receive one complimentary drink ticket. Additional beverages may be purchased directly from North East Tap Co. Proceeds from the sale will benefit the J.P. Ramel Scholarship Fund at Utica University.
On Saturday morning, members of the Pioneer Football 12th Man Club will gather in Parking Lot A at 9 a.m. for their annual tailgate while Women’s Ice Hockey alumnae gather for a breakfast and an action-packed game at the Utica University Nexus Center downtown, while Baseball alums gather at the diamond of the athletic complex to play ball and the women’s lacrosse team plays against alumnae at Laura Casamento Field at 10 a.m.
President Todd Pfannestiel will provide updates on the institution’s statis, accomplishments, current challenges and future plans at the annual State of the University Address – 9:30 a.m. Saturday morning in the Cynkus Family Welcome Center.
You can follow our favorite moose, Trax, stampeding towards the Artisan Alley & Farmer’s Market along the walkway between Parking Lot A and Charles A Gaetano Stadium where, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Saturday, there will be plenty of goodies to purchase and campus and community organizations to chat with.
From 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Construction Management program will host the All-Campus Barbecue outside Thurston Hall, where all are welcome to attend and enjoy some homestyle BBQ, live music, and more.
Then at 1 p.m. Saturday, it’s the big game – Utica University Football vs Alfred State College at Charles A Gaetano Stadium. Free and open to the public, crowds are encouraged to attend and cheer on your Pioneers, but be sure to get there early to get a good seat. While not required, a non-perishable food donation to benefit Feed Our Vets, is certainly encouraged and will be collected at the game.
On Sunday, things wind down with a Farewell Brunch for Parents, Families, and Alumni in the Dining Commons in Ralph F. Strebel Student Center from 10 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.. Current students, classmates, parents, family members, and friends, along with members of Utica University’s senior leadership will gather for brunch to close out Homecoming Weekend.
