Biography
John “Jay” LaFayette became the Systems Coordinator in June of 2021. Mr. LaFayette concluded a twenty-two-year career with the New York State Police, retiring as in Investigator, in charge of the Troop D Collision Reconstruction Unit. Throughout his career he was assigned to patrol operations, instructed at the New York State Police Academy in Speed Enforcement Training (Radar, Lidar and Sky Timing) and Emergency Vehicles and Operators Course. Mr. LaFayette was then promoted to Investigator in the Forensic Identification Unit/Collision Reconstruction Unit. Mr. LaFayette is accredited with the Accreditation Commission of Traffic Accident Reconstructionist (A.C.T.A.R.) and a licensed FAA Remote Unmanned Aerial Systems Pilot.
Mr. LaFayette holds an Associate’s Degree (AAS) in Civil Engineering Technology from Mohawk Valley Community College. Mr. LaFayette has also served as an instructor to the Phase 1, police academy at Mohawk Valley Community College. Mr. LaFayette previously worked for the New York State Department of Transportation (DOT) where he reached the position of Senior Engineering Technician. Mr. LaFayette is married and has two children.
