Biography
Kara Zaffarano is an accomplished cybersecurity professional, with a wealth of experience spanning more than 15 years across diverse domains within the industry. Her expertise includes specialized knowledge in malware analysis, cyber range automation, and machine learning applications.
She has a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Utica University, specializing in Computer Security, as well as a Master of Science in Computer Science from State University of New York Polytechnic Institute, specializing in Artificial Intelligence and Modeling.
Kara began her career at CACI, before joining Siege Technologies, where she climbed the ladder over her years with the company, serving as Principal Research Scientist, as well as Technical Director. At Siege Technologies, she led a variety of cybersecurity research and development (R&D) efforts, successfully executing projects in cyber quantification, attack-defense automation, adversarial machine learning, and automated malware analysis. Kara’s dedication to research is reflected through her portfolio of publications and patents, with a focus on critical themes, including assessing the effectiveness of cybersecurity technologies, automated evaluation of moving target defenses, and malicious behavior/data exfiltration disruption. Kara serves as a consultant for Rogue 10 Labs Inc., providing her expertise in deep learning model refinement, data/signal analysis, and cybersecurity R&D. Throughout her career, Kara has consistently sought to expand her knowledge and skills in cybersecurity through continuous education and training. She holds a number of certifications, including CompTIA Security+, CySA+, and PenTest+.
