Biography
Shanna R. Van Slyke, Ph.D., is assistant professor of criminal justice in Utica College’s School of Economic Crime and Justice Studies. She received her doctoral, master’s, and bachelor’s degrees in criminology from Florida State University, where she served as managing editor for the American Society of Criminology journal Criminology & Public Policy before joining the UC faculty in August 2010.

Research
Dr. Van Slyke's research focuses on public perceptions and criminal sanctioning of white-collar offenders, as well as disparities throughout the criminal justice processing of nonviolent economic offenders and public support for disenfranchisement. Her research has been published (or is forthcoming) in Punishment & Society; Journal of Criminal Justice; and Crime, Law, & Social Change.
Courses Taught
Van Slyke teaches criminological research methods (SOC 376), criminology (SOC 274), and introduction to criminal justice (CRJ 103), and is developing a student–faculty collaborative research project aimed at tracking public opinion about crime and justice in New York State.
