Memorial Trees Along Campus Drive
Dear Colleagues,
Beginning early tomorrow morning, our facilities management team will be removing ten dead or dying ornamental trees along the campus drive for safety reasons. As many of you know, several of the trees being removed are memorial trees dedicated to faculty and staff members who passed away while still serving as active employees.
Before this work begins, I wanted you to know that the University will be relocating the associated memorial markers to a suitable alternative setting elsewhere on campus – one that is both easily accessible and fully reflective of the deep reverence we feel for the memory of our departed colleagues.
Through their dedication and hard work, the much-beloved and long-serving Pioneers whose names are inscribed on these memorials contributed much to the furtherance of our mission, and we will continue to honor them in a manner that befits their remarkable legacy.
Sincerely,
Stephanie R. Nesbitt
President
